NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

MAY 03, 2001

The Union Negotiators received the Company's Last best and final offer this evening.

A summery of the Economics:

No Aerospace Tech

No changes to Mid-week shift change compensation

No changes to start times

Remember to attend meeting Sunday.

Don't let any one else decide your future!

MAY 02, 2001

Union and Company negotiators met all day today. Some tentative agreements and minor improvements were made between the companies 2nd and 3rd economic proposals.

Both sides are working diligently to conclude negotiations no later than midnight Thursday.

Listed below are the company's proposal, items that are tentatively agreed and our unresolved issues.

Company Proposals:

Unresolved issues

Items that are tentatively agreed too:

If you have any questions regarding negotiations check with your Steward!

APRIL 30, 2001

Your Negotiation Committee met with the company and reviewed the company's first economic proposal.

We have reviewed the proposal and had it distributed at work.

Let Management know how you feel about the first offer.

We presented the company with a counter proposal and expect a response at 10:00 am on Tuesday.

Remember it is important to attend the Ratification meeting Sunday.

It takes 50% + 1 to accept a contract and if rejected it takes 2/3 to vote for a strike. In the event that we reject the contract and we do not get 2/3's strike vote we have bought a contract per IAM constitution. Don't let this happen.

All of these items remain subject to negotiations and nothing is final until acceptance by our Union as an entire proposal for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Check with your Steward for other items that may arise!

APRIL 28, 2001

Negotiations continued through Saturday!

Your Union negotiating committee worked hard to get the company off their take-away non-economic issues that adversely affect most of us.

Their position on shift hours, the "Super Technician", failure to recognize our Union jurisdiction at off site locations such as Kodiak and not addressing the issue of Child Care problems as not being a legitimate excuse for occasionally refusing overtime direction is of great concern to our Union and if the company's position remains the same in their best, last and final proposal, your committee will be forced to recommend the rejection of their proposal.

Our Union Negotiators gave the company your economic proposals today!

It was ironic that the company was unprepared to give us theirs until Monday!

Company profits are at a near record high! The corporate executives' compensation has dramatically increased over the past five years including a near two and a half million dollar bonus.

There are less of us doing more work than in the past.

We will not recommend a contract that takes away benefits or does not meet our needs for the terms of the next agreement.

Our future is in your hands!

Make management aware of your needs and concerns.

APRIL 26, 2001

Union and Company negotiators met today. Minor Agreements were made in Non-Economic areas. Company is holding on its position on to expand shift starting times and establishing a SUPER TECH classification without regards to seniority and current promotional language. The company also wants to eliminate the 3rd shift hours and change it to an 8-hour shift.

Your Negotiating committee is committed to meeting with the company from now to May 3, 2001 in an attempt to get an agreement that meets your needs.

In the surveys you told us loud and clear what your issues are. All of your requests are in our proposals, the top priorities are;

The Company has never given us anything at the bargaining table that we weren't committed enough to get!!

Let Management know that these and other items are your issues and you will not settle for a sub standard agreement.
Check with your Steward for other items that may arise!

APRIL 24, 2001

Today your Union Negotiating Committee met with the Company for the first day of non-economic negotiations. Here is a brief summary of the days activities:

Union proposals

Company proposals:

All of these items remain subject to negotiations and nothing is final until acceptance by our Union as an entire proposal for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Wednesday April 18, 2001

The Negotiating Committee met with the Company on Tuesday afternoon.
This was the second meeting between the Union and the Company here at Vandenberg. The main topic of Tuesday's meeting revolved around overtime issues. By the end of the meeting Tuesday, the Union and the Company seem to have a better understanding of each other's proposed changes. Both the Union and the Company are currently revising language to present to each other during Negotiations in Florida next week.
More to follow.

Please pass this along to our members in your locations.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
